With “research-oriented university” as a new category of universities in Taiwan, I have seen different types of universities undergoing big changes. And I am truly impressed by what I see at NCHU. The university has developed a very different atmosphere. What I mean by a different atmosphere is the vitality and momentum for advancement, which was not there before. I am confident that Chung Hsing University will become one of the most important top-ranking universities in the world.
Established in 1919, NCHU is the oldest comprehensive national university in Taiwan. It is also the only top-ranking research-oriented university in central Taiwan.
With the history of more than ninety years of academic development, NCHU has claimed many top awards in Taiwan and brought significant contribution to the world.
National Chung Hsing University is a distinctive research university, with a long history and fine traditions. It is the only top-university in central Taiwan. The key educational goals of the University are to cultivate young talent to have humanities accomplishment and scientific literacy, the ability to communicate and innovate effectively, a global vision and a genuine concern for society.
My ideas for the university are underpinned by the following philosophies: “Humanity is our foundation, Academia is our priority, and Value creation and Enrichment of mankind are our goals.”
I hope that every member of National Chung Hsing University can find the role that suits them, develop their talent, make contributions to the school, carry out advanced research, create value for the nation and society, and work hard for human welfare; with a happy smile.
